People who killed themselves by their own inventions!

World is reaching to the great heights due to the efforts of many. With the growing inventions and contributions by many people, the way of living life is becoming more easier. Inventors when come across a problem then they come up with an idea to solve it. They solve it in a very different way and bring it to the reality after designing. But before introducing it to everyone, there is a need of testing it. The person who check the success of the inventions are many times the inventors itself. But few were unlucky as they killed themselves while checking their own inventions. Here is the list of few people who killed themselves by their own inventions.

1. Henry Smolinski

He left his job of Northrop-trained engineer vecaue he wanted to bring to the market Advanced Vehicles Engineers. It is a company which introduces flying car to market. The first two prototypes of the company were built in the year 1973. Later on 11 September of the same year, he went with pilot Harold Blake on a test flight. During the test flight, a wing strut detached from the car. Both of them were dead in a crash.

2. Franz Reichelt

He was born in Austria and he was a tailor. He used to spent his free time working on the flying parachutes which are used by the aeroplane pilots. When he was working on this, aeroplane were new invention at that time. It was still under progress that how the pilots would escape in a case of emergency. He used dummies for the testing of the designs that were invented by him, which were successful. It encouraged him to try it on himself. He jumped off from the Eiffel Tower, from the height of 187 feet. But his jump made him to land on the frozen ground which caused his death.

3. Horace Lawson Hunley

He was a Marine Engineer and a lawyer by profession. Also served in the Louisiana state legislative. He was interested in submarine and developed his first one in New Orleans in 1862 which eventually sunk. And the second one sunk in the Mobile Bay in Alabama. He funded his third submarine in which he left along with 7 crew members on 15 October 1863. It also sunk in Charleston,S.C. Few of the members were lucky to survive but he lost his life.

4. Thomas Midgley

His death was the very surprising one. He was a chemist and was famous for his work with gasoline and greenhouse gas Freon. During a press conference, he poured gasoline on his hands just to prove that it is safe. But he ended up suffering from it. But people’s assumptions were wrong that he would die. When he was suffering polio and was on bed, he designed a rope and a pulley system for himself. He died due to suffocation while entangling in the ropes on 2 November 1944.

5. Marie Curie

Winner of the two Nobel Prizes, she was a chemist as well as physicist. She was very famous for her with radioactivity. She made the discovery of the elements radium and polonium possible. Curie was responsible for establishing the theory of radioactivity is Marie. She discovered the fatal effect radioactivity could have on the health of human beings without knowing. On 4 July 1934, she died of aplastic anemia caused due to radiation exposure.
